Overview
The ISAMS instrument was launched on the UARS satellite from the Discovery space shuttle on 15 September 1991, . ISAMS was an infrared radiometer for observing thermal emissions at the limb of the Earths atmosphere. A radiometry technique using pressure modulation was used to determine vertical temperature profiles and mixing ratios for CO, H2O, CH4, O3, HNO3, N2O5, NO2, N2O and aerosols.
