Overview
The Atmosphere Team of the Laboratoire de Physique Moléculaire pour l'Atmosphère et l'Astrophysique (LPMAA) has developed a balloon experiment to measure the amounts of certain chemical species that contribute to the formation or destruction of ozone in the stratosphere. A stratospheric balloon carries the experiment's instruments, the LPMA Fourier transform interferometer and the DOAS UV-visible spectrometer, to an altitude ceiling that can vary between 30 and 40 km. The LPMA-DOAS experiment has flown regularly as a part of the ENVISAT and BALODIN validation campaigns.
