POAM II instrument: Polar Ozone and Aerosol Measurement II

Overview

The POAM II instrument was developed by the American Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) to measure the vertical distribution in the atmosphere of ozone, water vapour and nitrogen dioxide (NO2), as well as extinction due to aerosols and temperature. It was installed on the SPOT 3 satellite launched in September 1996. It was a visible/IR spectrometer making its observations through the Earths atmosphere by means of the solar occultation technique.

Informations sur les produits

Two types of POAM II data are available on Ether, from 1993-10-15 ; data link to the official NRL production: vertical profiles (level 2) and correlatives data as temperature, pressure and potential vorticity.
